Ottawa Art Expo’s Student Art Challenge 2011 will be an exciting adventure in creativity!

Students will be asked to create a piece of original art inspired by a portion of the photograph attached.

Ten juried finalists will be displayed at the Ottawa Art Expo on October 28, 29 and 30 and will be judged by the visitors to our show at the St. Elias Centre. Results and awards will be presented on Sunday October 30th.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE CHALLENGE:

• You must be an Ottawa High School student
• Take a section of the attached photograph (5% - 20% max) and use this new image as your inspiration
• Piece must be on finished gallery canvas or framed and sized between 1000 and 1500 square inches (2540 sq. cm. and 3810 sq. cm.)
• Piece must be wired for hanging
•  Email Jpeg of finished work along with your section of the original photograph to judithsavic@ottawaartexpo.com by October 18, 2011 accompanied by Student Name, Grade, School,telephone number, email address and, if applicable, Teacher’s Name

We applaud the efforts of the art teachers and art departments at the high schools in our city and hope that they continue to place the study of art in its rightful place as an integral component of a student’s education. Because of our appreciation, The Ottawa Art Expo will not only provide the cash awards to the young artists but will also contribute $200 in cash or equivalent art supplies to the Art Teacher/School of the People’s Choice Award Winner to benefit the students in the Visual Arts Department.
